Ann Curry

Ann Curry is an American photographer and journalist. She has been reporting for over 45 years focusing on the people suffering from conflict zones as well as natural disasters. Curry covered the conflicts within Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Ann Curry is a journalist anchorperson for television, reporter and anchorperson who was born in 1956. Her most well-known work is has been on Today the program, which is the National Broadcasting Co. morning newscast. Curry was well-known for the reporting she did about natural disasters as well as war broken nations. Curry's mother is Japanese as is her father, who was another American Naval Sailor. After World War II, her parents met during her father's service in Japan. As a result of her father's military service the family moved quite a lot. They eventually arrived in Ashland Oregon where Curry attended high school. The University of Oregon awarded her a bachelor of arts in journalism. Her exposure to different cultures as well as her experiences throughout her childhood likely influenced her empathetic way of communicating on international matters. Finally, she graduated Ashland High School. As an intern at KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregan, she began her journey in the field of broadcasting. She was the first woman journalist for the station at was 22. She then moved up to anchoring and reporting at KGW, an NBC-affiliated station in Portland. She moved back in Los Angeles four years later as a journalist for KCBS TV. There were two Emmy Awards were won during her six year association with TV station KCBS.
